MEETING HIGHLIGHTS for Jan – Mar, 2014:
Cosmetic upgrades were approved and by now, mostly completed to include shiny floors throughout, as well as, the bar downstairs, the upstairs kitchen(top to bottom), a new A/C unit and new siding on the exterior!! Be sure to come to the Memorial Day Services, Mon May 26, and check out the New Look!! Thanks to everyone for all their hard work and dedication.

Fish Fry’s were a success and Delicious!!! We netted over $6,000.!! A HUGE THANK YOU to all the folks that make the whole event look easy! We know it’s not, so thanks. What a team!!

MEMBERSHIP:
We have 385 folks paid! Another year approaches so…time to think about doing again! Thanks for paying early. New members are Joe McDonald, Ray Vansant, Harped Bennett, and Tom Haun, Welcome to all of you and we’re glad to have you Aboard (as the NAVY folk’s like to say!)

HISTORIAN REPORT:
“Dusty” was present in Apr. wearing a uniform that was adopted by the Legion in the 1950’s to wear to funerals and Legion functions. Approx. 30 members purchased a jacket and pants for $35.00., today it would cost around $400.00. Very SHARP!! Dusty and Bobby Eisenbath are the only survivors that still have this uniform today!! Bobby still fits his too!!

At the May meeting, Dusty announced that since it was election time of year, that he would take this opportunity and resign from his position as Historian. Dusty has been with the American Legion 70+ years!! Dedication unsurpassed!! He was given thanks and received a well deserved standing ovation!! Thanks Dusty for all the years, for being such a driving force for the Legion and a great example for all of us for years to come. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

SICK CALL/DISTRESS:
By early May, Bob Eisenbath is home and well cared for by his best nurse, Doris! Getting better and stronger everyday. Also, Dusty was recently hospitalized and is in rehab at: 5400 Executive Center Parkway, St. Peters, MO Room 316B also phone # 636-922-7690. Hope to see you Memorial day, Dusty.

DONATIONS:
$500.00 to the National Emergency Fund, $1000.00 to Ladie’s Aux., $435.00 to cover balance for College for Kids, $2,500.00 to the St. Charles Co. Sheriff’s Dept to purchase 10 “Bracelets” to be given to patients w/disabilities to wear. The bracelets enable the police and rescue responders to track and locate the patient. It’s really a wonderful program and a true God send for family members who need one to be able to keep their loved one at home.

Thank you notes from the Herman Lanvermeir’s family for honor guard services provided, the Wentzville Lacrosse club and the Memorial Day foundation for donations, and a thank you from Ruth Temme for our supplying equip to Roland.. our pleasure! Doc Schmucker thanked everyone for his Honorary Lifetime Membership he received at the Birthday dinner, also our pleasure!! I forgot to mention in last newsletter that our own DOC is also a 65 year member!! Mia Copa, Doc! Xoxo

BINGO:
As Bill Leesor pointed out, Bingo IS this hall’s mainstay! All help is welcomed and needed! Even if it’s just one Fri. a month or even just a couple of hours on Fri or 1st Sun, we are open to shift work! Please let Bill know if you can help out or have any questions

CAR SHOW:
Meetings are 2nd Tue of month, 7:30 p.m. All help welcomed here also.

50/50:
Joe McDonald won $40.00 in Apr. Al Tallevast won $47.50 and Rick Quistorff was present and won the progressive of $138.00!!

HELP:
We are still looking for help at bingo on Friday nights. We have a great group of players that come every week, and a loyal group of workers, but we could use more Legionnaires to help out. Without the bingo funds, we could not even pay for the upkeep of the Post home, much less make all the donations that we do every year. Please consider giving a few hours once a month to keep our best moneymaker going. Stop by on a Friday evening and see what you can do.
