MEETING HIGHLIGHTS for Nov & Dec, 2013 and Jan – Mar, 2014:
We had the Board of Directors elections. All current members up for re-election were voted in by acclimation and 1 being elected, Tom Bailey, to replace our Commander, Rick Anselm. The Board of Directors members are: Rod Calloway, Bob Eisenbath, Bob Slinkerd, Gary Reynolds, Tom Bailey, Bob Phillips, Jim Babula, Pat Simmons, Ron Matlock, Bobby McIntyre, Randy Panke, and Norman Schroer.

A website committee was appointed and consists of Pat Simmons, Richard Quistorff, Rick Quistorff, and Jerry Eggert.

Floor care for the hall has been discussed and a motion was passed to upgrade and maintain our floors at the Legion so the inside looks great for the upcoming Memorial Day services on May 26th and beyond. Work is being scheduled to begin early April.

The bushes and landscaping outside in front of the Hall are looking good. Thank you, Dusty, for leading and maintaining the project and for all you do and have done over the years!!

Flags were flown in town for Veteran’s Day and Martin Luther King Day. Our Buddy Supper was Nov. 16. 2013.  Post members marched in the Wentzville Christmas parade on Dec. 1st, 2013. We rang bells for the Salvation Army on Dec. 9th and 10th 2013. Our Flag Retirement Ceremony was observed at the Post on Mar 8th 2014.  We retired over 5 barrels of flags with the help of the Boy Scouts.

Don’t forget the BLUE STAR BANNERS are available to any family member of any ACTIVE-DUTY SERVICE MEMBER. Contact any one at the Post for info.

The Post committed to send 14 boys to BOYS STATE this year. That’s up for our usual 10!! Good luck boys, we are looking forward to hearing all about your week and what you learned!!

The Birthday Supper was held on Mar 15th of this year. Certificates for Years of Continuous Service were awarded. We had a few 65 year certificates to hand out this year. Roland Temme was in attendance to receive his 65 Year Certificate!! Congrats to you, Roland, and to all our members for continuing your commitment to our organization and Country. Thank you!

As of March 2014 meeting, we have 381 paid members!! That’s 106% Whew!! Commander Anselm received a Certificate of Appreciation from Department on our Post going “over the top”!!  Great job, everybody! If you haven’t paid your dues yet this year, please do so!! Thank you!

Winners of the 50/50: Dave Harm, Jim Brassell and Mel Hines. The progressive 50/50 was won by Bill Loretto in Dec. and Don Phillips won it in Feb! Doc Schmucher won the 50/50 in Dec. and it was the first time ever….that’s what he said!! New-knee Doc will be up dancing around ‘fore we know it!!

Car show meetings are the 2nd Tue of the month, upstairs, 7:30pm. Last year’s show was the best ever with over 150 cars registered!! Pencil in the Saturday after Labor Day to attend and enjoy that day at the Post.

We are still looking for help at bingo on Friday nights. We have a great group of players that come every week, and a loyal group of workers, but we could use more Legionnaires to help out. Without the bingo funds, we could not even pay for the upkeep of the Post home, much less make all the donations that we do every year. Please consider giving a few hours once a month to keep our best moneymaker going. Stop by on a Friday evening and see what you can do.
